Ways to wear: summer leather

Warm weather leather, it shouldn’t work - but it really does. (Faux) leather looks even cooler in the summer, especially in a chic nineties shade of chocolate brown. Leave your cotton and linen pieces at home and take your new leather bits out for a spin to keep people on their toes. Playing with texture is the easiest way to curate an elevated ensemble that’s less sweat in the city and more sleek in the British sun. There are so many ways to have fun with this trend but these are our three favourites ...

Leather Dress

Yes, you can wear a leather dress in summer - let's not forget we live in the UK. If we’re honest with ourselves it’s never going to reach the 30 degree highs we hope for every year so why does leather feel like such a no no? Go from day to cool summer nights in a khaki leather shirt dress that offers warmth and style in equal measure. There’s no need for a layer when you’re dressed in leather from head to toe making this option our go to for last minute dinner plans. Head out in platform trainers, sunnies and a bag filled with wherever the night takes you essentials.

Leather Trousers

It’s possible to keep things cool and nod to the ’90s without falling into Ross Geller territory. That Friends episode put us off leather trousers for a good few years but we’re ready to give them a second chance. This time around, make the leather trousers a chic shade of brown and add a white tank top. Keeping everything else clean and simple allows the leather trousers to shine Sticking to a neutral colour palette and sleek silhouettes always translates as luxe so reach for plain mules and a figure hugging crop to complete the look. See, Ross was just ahead of his time.

Leather Shirt

Nail nineties brown, summer leather and the western trend in one simple shirt. Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” cowboy influence is still going strong and this look is giving us all the rodeo vibes. Get on board y’all because layering is the coolest and easiest way to wear leather. Button it up or let it hang loose. Throw it over a leather shirt and elevate your everyday jeans and a white tee for a serious triple threat. It’s up to you but we strongly advise styling with cowboy boots, because who can resist the call of the Wild West?
