IWD | The HQ huns talk sisterhood

Who runs the world? GIRLS! International Women’s Day is one week away and to celebrate we’ve been cooking up something special. We’ve designed five badass slogan tees to raise money for Women Supporting Women – a group committed to changing the lives of young women at The Prince’s Trust charity. From Super Power, Let’s make herstory to You are a limited edition and Sisters support sisters, there is a slogan tee for everyone to shout loudly about the power of woman. For every t-shirt sold, we will be donating £5 to The Princes Trust to support women in their services. Our t-shirts reflect the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day ‘Each For Equal’ celebrating women’s achievements, individuality and sisterly solidarity. So, who better to model our charity tee collection than our very own HQ huns? Find out what womanhood means to them and why they chose their slogan tee …

What does this slogan mean to you?

This slogan means everything to me because of how close me and my sister are! We literally do everything together and we support each other in EVERYTHING...it’s only right we wear it proud!

Which woman in herstory most inspires you?

My mum is definitely at the top of the list for me personally – but universally, it’s got to be a both Rihanna and Michelle Obama – Ultimate QUEENS!

Jazmine

What does this slogan mean to you?

To me it means women celebrating women and being there for one another. Whatever we decide to do or whatever we go through in life, we have the support from other women, and I love it.

If you could one thing for women, what would it be?

The view that Women can’t be great Mothers and hard workers! We can definitely do both...in heels! *Insert hair flick*

Liseli

What does this slogan mean to you?

“Let’s make herstory” acknowledges the power I’ve always had as a woman yet have had to fight to make known. It’s validation that I have value to dictate my own path and that I’m doing it.

What’s the best thing about being a woman?

Being a woman. It’s being a creator. A nurturer. A boss. Everything that being a woman entails. It’s being both the ‘man’ and the ‘woman’ in the traditional sense and not at all. It’s being the change that I choose to be.

Chiara

What does this slogan mean to you?

This slogan reminds me that I AM a super heroine. That I’m strong and I can be proud of it and to not be scared to show Chiara to the world.

What is your biggest superpower?

A year and half ago I needed to change my life and to start again. It was the biggest deal of my life but I did it. I moved to another city, in another country where I didn’t know anyone. I started a new chapter where I can write new stories about me.

Zain & Meeral

Zain

What does this slogan mean to you?

This slogan is affirmation that I am more than enough and what I thought were my insecurities are in fact my superpowers.

Which woman in herstory most inspires you?

M.I.A , many may see her as a successful artist but I see her as a voice for the minority, an activist for equality and most importantly a woman of colour who wears her skin colour and gender as a crown.

Meeral

What does this slogan mean to you?

This slogan is my life mantra! I believe that every single person is unique in their own special way and that whenever we don’t feel like our best selves, we have to remember that we are a rare, one-of-a-kind, limited edition version of US.

What’s the best thing about being a woman?

Feminine energy, powerful fearlessness

Phoebe & April

Phoebe

What does this slogan mean to you?

It pretty much sums up my life – sisters, both in the true biological & the friendship sense, are everything! I wouldn’t be where I am today without the sisters of all kinds who have supported me through all the highs and lows, particularly over the past 12 months.

What’s the best thing about being a woman?

“The prerogative to have a little fun” – obviously!

April

What does this slogan mean to you?

For me it means being there for your girls no matter what. But also supporting all women! We should be celebrating and supporting everything that women do, even if you don’t know them.

What is your biggest achievement?

One of my biggest achievements is being the first person in my family to go to university and come out of it with a first class degree! I remember working so hard for it at the time and getting that result was the best feeling in the world.

Josie

What does this slogan mean to you?

Independence, individuality, equality.

What is your biggest superpower?

Working in an industry where I feel like I have voice and support from other women I work and collaborate with.
